KTL Transport Limited is a family-owned transport company based in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Founded by Kent and Kirsty Karangaroa, our story began in 2003, when a group of Puketītiri farmers asked us to help fill a gap in their local rural transport. What started as a few runs for local farms quickly grew into a dedicated operation — and in 2015 we rebranded to KTL Transport Limited.

For over 20 years, KTL has specialised in rural cartage, particularly fertiliser transport, working alongside the same farming community that gave us our start. We’ve always built our reputation on one simple value:

“We do what we say we’re going to do.”

That principle has carried us through good times and tough ones. On 14 February 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle changed everything. Our loyal farming customers — many of whom had supported us since day one — were hit incredibly hard by the disaster. The devastation across Hawke’s Bay nearly sank our small transport company, both emotionally and financially.

But, like the farmers we serve, we dug in and adapted. Later that year, we purchased Expressway Landscape Supplies, creating a new direction that complemented our existing business. By using our KTL Transport trucks to backload landscape materials into our Napier yard, we found a way to keep our wheels turning, our people employed, and our business connected to the land and community we care about.



Today, KTL Transport remains driven by family, resilience, and integrity. Kent’s father has been behind the wheel since the beginning — a reminder that loyalty and hard work still mean something. Whether it’s fertiliser to the back country or landscape supplies into town, we take pride in doing the job right — safely, on time, and exactly as promised.
