Yard Manager

If there’s one person who keeps Expressway Landscape Supplies running like clockwork, it’s Boonie, our Yard Manager.  He’s the first one through the gate every morning and the one making sure everything’s organised before most of us have had our first coffee — although for Boonie, a proper café coffee is non-negotiable.

Before joining Expressway Landscape Supplies, Boonie spent years behind the wheel as a log truck driver, clocking up long hours and earning a reputation for hard work and reliability. These days, he puts that same work ethic into managing our yard, deliveries, and customers — often volunteering for deliveries himself (purely, of course, so he can “accidentally” pass a good coffee stop).

Last year, Boonie put his practical skills to work building and selling macrocarpa planter boxes, which quickly became a hit with our customers. Around here, they’re now affectionately known as “Boonie Boxes” — sturdy, good-looking, and built to last (just like the man himself).

Off the clock, Boonie swaps the loader for a rugby ball, playing prop for the Napier Pirates Rugby Club. He’s always happy when trainings cancelled and the team heads straight to the pub instead.  In the summer months he’s representing Expressway Landscape Supplies in business house lawn bowls at the local bowling club with his jandels a foot and a beer in his left hand.  When he’s not working or packing orders, you’ll find him towing his big caravan off for a well-earned camping trip somewhere around Hawke’s Bay.
